I am so happy that Square One has added group counseling to the mix. I went to the doctor a few years ago and told her I wanted to lose weight. She said I would never be successful if I didn't follow a three-pronged approach. Eat healthier, exercise more and find out why you eat what you eat and why you eat when you eat. I had a few counseling sessions and found myself devoting time to those two questions. I, too, considered myself unworthy. It's a powerful state of mind. One that can drag the most positive of people down. As I found my mindset changing, the pounds started to come off. As you know, losing weight for people of size is cyclical. It's not like losing 10 pounds before bikini season. Changing your mindset is a powerful thing. I don't say any of this to deter from your blog post. I have always found your blog to be unfiltered and true. I find myself nodding in agreement the majority of the time. I say this because I get it. I am pickin' up what your layin' down lol Thanks for sharing :)Mindinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3140970090451973761.post-83301441774069810992013-03-26T07:32:06.808-07:002013-03-26T07:32:06.808-07:00Kevin, thank you for sharing with all of us. I...Kevin, thank you for sharing with all of us. I'm so glad Square One has started the group counseling sessions. I remember a few years ago when I went to my doctor and told her I wanted to lose weight; she said I would never be successful if I didn't look at it as a three-pronged approach. Eating healthy, exercise and understanding why I ate what I ate and when I ate it. I went to a few counseling sessions and discussed me. That was the first time I really sat down and gave myself the proper attention I deserved. Feeling unworthy can drag even the most positive of people down. Once I found a better mindset, the pounds started to come off. As you have said before, weight loss for people of size is cyclical. It isn't about losing 10 pounds before bikini season. It's a process...a journey as you have so eloquently relayed to us in your blog. I don't say any of this to take away from your post but to let you know that I understand. I'm pickin' up what your layin' down lol No advice, no agendas, no atta boys. Just know that you are not alone :)Mindinoreply@blogger.com
